Sony Workshop: Demystifying 4K
With 4K camera technologies now available for consumers and professionals, there is a lot of attention on 4K, and many questions about the technology: Why shoot in 4K now if I am producing and delivering in HD? How does 4K affect my productions, and the bottom line? Is cost-effective 4K production a reality? How do you take advantage of this new revenue generating opportunity? This seminar will address these questions, and focus on how to produce content in 4K while still protecting your current delivery needs and your bottom line.
THE SKYPE SHOW or See You in August
31st 1st
In November of 2010, Jody Christopherson and Michael de Roos formed the indie-folk-beatbox-rock band Greencard Wedding in Crown Height Brooklyn. In December of 2012, Michael’s visa ran out. He moved back to Holland and Jody and Michael discovered they couldn’t harmonize via Skype. But they could write a play. And music. . . and maybe get an artist visa. This Transmedia musical is an exploration of the ways technology can enable us to transcend boundaries, uniting artists with each other and their audience. Performed in English.
“Keeps you on the edge of your seat, and yields a poignant statement about government support for artists in America. With not much more than a desk and a few scattered props—and highly original music from their band, Greencard Wedding, that blends dubstep beat-boxing with folk guitar and vocals—The Skype Show provides just the kind of experience you hope for . . . Christopherson and De Roos are talents to watch, not to mention a pleasure to hear.”

Story Hack Workshop
Challenging filmmakers with a digital vision, developers, and designers to reinvent the documentary for the web. But before you dive into Filmgate Interactive’s 2-Day Story Hack, Adnaan Wasey from POV, the award-winning independent documentary series celebrating its 27th anniversary on PBS in 2014, will help you prepare for a successful weekend. Remember, only seven teams will compete and the winning pitch will be funded!
What is a Hackathon? Inspired by the “hack days” of the open-source development community and companies such as Facebook and Google, we add filmmakers into the traditional Hackathon setting, where software coders collaborate outside of the usual corporate constraints in compressed time frames to solve a problem. Don’t miss POV Digital’s workshop to prepare yourself and your team for the Filmgate Interactive Story Hack (register for the Hackathon itself here). Bring your computer and your teammates- these will be interactive sessions! Come hungry, we’ll have pizza!
A JOURNAL OF INSOMNIA
THE NET NEVER SLEEPS. It is always daytime somewhere—and night-time somewhere else. The Internet is insomnia. A Journal of Insomnia invites insomniacs to collaborate in a web-based reflection on what keeps them up at night. This interactive documentary offers an utterly original encounter with a disorder that affects one in three people in the developed world. In September 2012, insomniacs around the world began sharing their stories on nfb.ca/insomnia. Thousands have contributed webcam testimonies, written accounts and original artwork—material that forms the heart of A Journal of Insomnia.
Four insomniacs in particular invite us to an unusual nocturnal rendezvous, summoning us to an appointment with sleeplessness that provides arresting new perspectives on contemporary existence and the anxiety that so often underscores our days—and our nights. The interactive experience includes a mock confessional, an interactive feature, an experience walkthrough and music.
