30 curated creators have exploded into an industrial space complete with city views, and for the next three days and nights, you can experience what they’ve put together. The interactive art exhibit, called RAW POP UP / LAB, will be open for those that are 21 and up in the later hours Friday and Saturday 6 pm – 1 am. Sunday it will open for all ages 12 pm-7 pm.
Here are tips for you to make the most of your trip to RAW.
Numero Uno: Take public transport. The free metro mover literally stops right in front, and let’s be honest; you likely will be drinking, so safety first. Not to mention avoiding parking, or worse, risk getting caught behind the bridge going up. Of course if you’re coming from the South or West you can use code “RAWPOPUP2018” to get $10 off 2 rides on Lyft!
Numero Dos: Look up, look down, look all around. From floor to ceiling art is everywhere. Turn a corner and something – or someone new pops up. You don’t want to miss any of it. From meaningful virtual reality, to personalized portraits, there’s plenty to keep you busy.
Numero Tres: Bring your good camera. Trust. This is definitely not your typical “experiential” pop up with ball pits or a sprinkle pool, but there are plenty of gram worthy photo opportunities. They have a COFFEE BEAN TUB. #miami #cafeconleche #irl
Numero Cuatro: Let loose. RAW POP UP /LAB is what you would get if a sexy club and a hip art gallery had a baby. Leave your ego at the escalator, don’t worry it will still be there when you get back. Dance like no one is watching, ask a stranger what they think about the art.
Numero Cinco: Come hungry, and thirsty. Brickell City Centre, where the show is taking place, has many yummy options for food and drink. With your wristband you can come and go to the exhibit and according to the RAW POP UP Instagram you can show it at La Centrale, Tacology, Dr. Smood, Pubbelly Sushi, Casa Tua Cucina and the Big Easy to get get 10% off your bill.
Numero Seis: Dress to impress – but wear comfortable shoes. The minds behind RAW are pioneers of the Interactive Art Movement (IAM). You’ll want to interact, and in some cases, it will just happen. There are structures to climb, tickets are basically sold out so expect lines, and expect to be seen. Check out some of the fashion looks I caught at the preview Thursday.
