As the present infrastructure of food culture shifts from five star “status” dining to casual and eclectic; The Wynwood Yard has become the centerpiece to Miami’s culinary metamorphosis. The Yard offers food-centric experiences on the cheap; some events include “Cooking Skills Class for Kids”, “Brunch in the Garden”and “Food Entrepreneurs Dish!”

I was delighted to receive an invitation to the Yard’s “Harvest Wednesdays”, a garden-to-table dinner party which highlights the Yard’s own produce and it’s food truck resident Della’s. I was greeted by the scent of fresh mint and rosemary as we started the evening with a garden tour while sipping herbaceous cocktails.

After sampling bitter kale and spicy mustard greens with the help from our Little River Co-Op guide, it was time to eat. Chef Julie crafted a vibrant salad harvested straight from the Yard, followed by our choice of one Della’s bowls. No meal is complete without dessert and Della’s dished out some sinfully (yet sustainable) sweets.

We dined, we drank and shared stories with like-minded foodies. The most satisfying part was knowing exactly where our meal came from.
