What happens when members from Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Guns-N-Roses, Billy Idol, Velvet Revolver and Deep Purple get together? I’ll tell you what – KINGS OF CHAOS!
Yes, the supergroup is far from dead. Kings of Chaos whipped through the Hard Rock on Friday night and rocked their asses off! Previously known as rock-n-roll Allstars, the lineup changes alongside 3 core member, Duff McKagan, Gilby Clarke, and Matt Sorum (all GNR alum).
Current members include Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), and Steve Stevens (Billy Idol). To say that these musicians can command a stage is an understatement. They gave the crowd exactly what they came for, a kick-ass show. Playing songs from ZZ Top, Cheap Trick, GNR, Deep Purple, Billy Idol, as well as a fitting tribute to BB King (The Thrill is Gone), the band put on a greatest hits show that the audience truly could appreciate. From hits like ‘Surrender, Highway Star, Waiting on the Bus, Mr. Brownstone, Rebel Yell’ and countless others, the crowd sang along in what was basically a huge house party.
As a fun side project for all those involved, I’d like to think that an album of original material may eventually surface in the future, but you never know. Cool show, great lineup, great collection of songs, and a good rocking night! Remember, always support live music!
