Here is the second song of what I’m now calling the Remix the Vote collection. Here is the first one.
The recent election here in Miami had a “record-breaking” 26% voter turnout. Totally a glass half empty or full situation. We are in the midst of a pandemic after all, but that percentage is still very low.
I will literally give $100 of my own money to someone who makes a dope video to go with the below song parody. It will also be shared on all Tropicult social platforms, and our partner platforms. If multiple submit, the winner will be the viewers’ choice. Keep checking back for more of my lyric remixes all summer long, hit me up if you’re down to collab.

America
M Dorsett
I hear the polls
Echoing tonight
But know that doesnt take into account most of the population
Most of us don’t even vote
The politicians reflects our choices that’s why we have no
Salvation
They’re a bunch of old white men
Holding on to lies they’ve told and
Ancient customs
I’m turning to you to say, Hurry up, now change it’s waiting for you
We’ve all got to get out there and vote
It’s literally the only thing you have to do
If you want to give the next generation hope
You can even mail in your vote
You can protest every night
They’re counting on you not showing up
Ensuring they stay in good company
I know you can do what’s right
As sure as Kilmanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serangetti
We may not cure everything, with one election cycle that’s
Not how it works
We’ve all got to get out there and vote
It’s literally the only thing you have to do
If you want to give the next generation hope
You can even mail in your vote
We’ve all got to get out there and vote
It’s literally the only thing you have to do
We’ve all got to get out there and vote
It’s literally the only thing you have to do
Hurry up, now change is waiting for you
We’ve all got to get out there and vote
It’s literally the only thing you have to do
If you want to give the next generation hope
You can even mail in your vote
Africa
Toto
I hear the drums
Echoing tonight
But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation
She’s coming in 12: 30 flight
The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards
Salvation
I stopped an old man along the way,
Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancinet melodies
He turned to me as if to say, Hurry boy, it’s waiting there for
You
It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
The wild dogs cry out in the night
As they grow restless longing for some solitary company
I know that I must do what’s right
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serangetti
I seek to cure what’s deep inside, frightened of this thing that
I’ve become
It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
{Instrumental break}
Hurry boy, she’s waiting there for you
It’s gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There’s nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa, I passed some rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa, I passed some rains down in Africa
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had
