Women traveling alone is one of the hottest trends. 27 year old Oliva Ramdat chose Miami as her first destination for a solo trip. She spent 2 weeks here, exploring the local reggae scene, dancing the night away at The Wynwood Yard for Reggae Sundays, and much more. Out of all the places shes visited around the world she said “Miami is her favorite”. Besides dancing, she also loves to play bass guitar. She learned how to play taking lessons from her father as a child. Her first time performing for a live audience was in his band. After that, she was hooked. Once her brother started doing music, they joined with others to form the Amsterdam based Reggae group The Dubbeez.
Other highlights from her trip included attending an open mic hosted by local artist Marcus Blake. There she met @therealwayon. The next day the two musicians laid down a track at Durty Mic Studios. She enjoyed some local bites at Chef Creole, and the two of us also went for a ride through Little Haiti. She said the neighborhood reminded her of Suriname, where her mother and father first listened to Reggae music. Enjoy some of the photos we took during her tour of the Magic City in the gallery below.
