As temperatures continue to steadily rise in the 305, The Vagabond, Gummdrops, Alley Times, and, yours truly, Tropicult are launching a rockin’ Summer Concert Series this Friday night! The shindig should set the tone for more super fun local hangs and a badass summer. Headlining the festivities are two of Miami’s hottest local bands, Deaf Poets and Lil Daggers, together on the same night.

That ain’t it!! Charlie Woods will be dropping a special DJ set and all of the dudes from KRiSP are expected to attend. Plus, pop-up shops by our local faves, installations, BBQ, even one of Miami’s most recognized street artist, Atomik will be out there doing his thing!!

DEAF POETS

Fans of the local music scene are surely no stranger to Deaf Poets. The two man duo made up of Sean Wouters and Nicolas Espinosa has been thrilling audiences with their beatlesque-charm, garage-band sound, punk flair and bluesy soul. Espinosa’s heart-pounding percussions and Wouters’, often heart-wrentching, soulful vocals, translate a passion that is understood by those that see them. Since they came on the scene in 2010, they’ve had people bobbing-their heads and others talking.

“They could continue to evolve as some of the best local musicians in Miami.” CBS Miami

I caught them at O Cinema during the Filmgate Interactive Film Festival earlier this year, and I agree. It’s no wonder their first single “All Your Lies” got an astounding 1,300 plays in less than 24 hours. Check out the fun video below.

LIL DAGGERS

Lil Daggers is without a doubt another local staple. Recently, #AreaCode, a series on the Rock it Out! Blog that focuses on up and coming bands and artists from around the country had a session with the band.  In addition to performing their songs “Jelleton” and “Single Digits”, the band talked about whether there’s any competition between up and coming bands in the Sunshine State, what musical influences their fans would consider surprising, and whether they would have sounded different if they had formed in another state.

Check out the trippy, cinema-house style, apocalyptic video the band did with Consequence of Sound for Block x Blog.

STRANGEWAYS ZINE RELEASE [PRE] PARTY

Earlier that night, just a few blocks away from the Le Vag, at the Wynwood Walls, StrangeWays is hosting the Issue #3 Zine Release Party at The Go! Sticker Shop. The third includes contributions by Ahol Sniffs Glue and Jessy Nite. StrangeWays will be printing the zine there which is pretty cool and a pop-up shop by algae clothing. Did I mention there’s no cover and complimentary drinks till 10? Once that’s over were headed over to The Vagabond to celebrate the summer, local live music, and my birthday! (Hopefully already a bit buzzed). RSVP

Additional musical elements will be provided by two of The Vagabond’s loveliest ladies, Grace Jones and Andie Sweetswirl with a special guest DJ set by Charlie Woods of Krisp. Delicious gourmet Sizzlin’ Summer BBQ by Moe’s. In the garden, Black Jesus is laying down a funky soul DJ set while Alley Times Atomik work on a live paint collobo.
