I dunno about all of ya’ll but a small part of me is relieved that Basel is over! Nonetheless, we had an amazing time and saw even more amazing artworks. Although the fairs and hordes of tourist have packed up and gone away, Miami’s local culture shines on! There are several ongoing exhibitions at local galleries and museums to visit (minus the traffic and insanity). That ain’t it! There are many more local cultural events and exhibitions already on our calendar for the upcoming New Year.
Here’s a short list of “Tropicult Approved” ongoing/upcoming art exhibitions/events…
Kevin Arrow: Overhead
November 1 – December 22, 2013 Dimensions Variable 100 NE 11th Street, Miami, FL, 33132. For More Information, email: [email protected]
“My work takes on various forms including, drawing, painting, film and audio based projects, merging my interest in obsolete media, archival tendencies, the ephemeral object and humor. My images are organized in a loose poetic manner creating an impression of visual flux.”
Dimensions Variable is pleased to present Overhead, an exhibition by Miami based artist Kevin Arrow. Using ordinary classroom tools such as overhead projectors, educational transparencies and light-boxes Kevin Arrow transforms the interior of Dimensions Variable into a high saturated, metaphorical archeological site. Lessons are all enveloping.
“There is always this presence I feel whenever I deal with Arrow’s work as a projection, a large one at that, he is making very intimate moments’ public in a way that was already public to begin with.” Domingo Castillo
