During Art Days 2014, visual artist, Magnus Sodamin is collaborating with choreographer, Katie Stirman to merge both the figure and environment at Primary Projects space. The paintings serve as a highly saturated-spectrum backdrop for the body-painted figures to dissolve into and dance within.
“The performance entitled “Illuminations” will reveal the ever-changing saturated environment around us and within us, and our never-ending quest for self-discovery.” Magnus Sodamin
The projects will also be recorded live and projected live onto the outside facade of the building facing Biscayne in Downtown Miami, where spectators not in the gallery space, will also be able to experience it, illuminated in the darkness. As the rooms fades into various day-glow colors, they blend subtly into behind a spectrum of inkblot patterns that engulfing the space.
“The mimicry figure and background allows for freedom of identity and race, where there is only liberation of the human expression in movement.”
