The objective of ‘For Artists, BY ARTISTS‘ is to harbor a social colony for artists from all disciplines of the arts with a focus on painters, photographers, designers and sculptors.
This week, For Artist, By Artists will be featuring Jenny Perez and introducing Brazilian airbrush artist, Marcio Karam. Utilizing the technology at Haven the artwork will be displayed in a panoramic video wall which maximizes its potential and sets this weekly exhibition apart from others.
Now that we’ve caught our breath, we put together a Miami Art Week 2012 Retrospective - a series of photos and galleries that capture some of our favorite events and artworks.
This collection of photographs only captures a small fragment of what went down in Miami the first week of December. But hey, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s a short story…enjoy!

Talk about making an entrance! Immersed in water at the entrance of the Miami Beach Botanical Garden is Idan Zareski’s impactful Bigfoot sculpture.
On November 27th, right on time for Basel, the Bigfoot sculpture was unveiled to press and media. Naturally, we we’re present and got some great shots of the sculpture and its maker, Idan Zareski.
This weekend, venture over to the dark side for Art Nights aka the official after-parties for DWNTWN Art Days hosted by The Vagabond and yours truly.
You’re invited to linger around the ‘hood to discover the art and music that illuminate the alleys and corridors of the Downtown Miami Media & Entertainment District.
We encourage night-crawlers to venture into the sun and out to the park for the Magic City’s first DWNTWN Art Days.

The newly revamped Miami-Dade College Museum and Galleries of Art + Design (formerly the Art Gallery System) celebrates the kick-off its 2012-13 season during DWNTWN Art Days with two exhibitions by two extraordinary women – Jaimie Warren and Elena Sisto. Plus, Michelle Weinberg unveils Shelf Life, a storefront devotional space at the Alfred I. Dupont Building.
Art is in the air and season is just around the corner but with sizzling events like DWNTWN Art Days just weeks away the scene is hot and don’t expect it to cool down any time soon!
