It’s Tuesday and this year’s Winter Music Conference/ Miami Music Week is already in full force. South Beach, Downtown Miami, and Wynwood have already seen some great talent roll through and it’s only the beginning! As the most anticipated week for many locals and visitors, there’s only so much you can plan before you’re thrown into the pool parties and 24-hour events with some of the best music you’ve heard all year. From deep house and GoodTimes in Wynwood to diverse line-ups in Downtown Miami, and the ever shining pool parties of South Beach. This year, I will be covering several events throughout the week via photos and exclusive video interviews, capturing the essence of what Miami Music Week means to you. Stay tuned and never stop dancing!
The events this past Saturday at The Garrett and Grand Central, are perhaps a great preview of what we can expect this week. First, welcoming the night, were Santiago Caballero and Pirate Stereo of Slap & Tickle. This WMC we’re seeing plenty of Miami artists holding it down including GTA, playing their first ULTRA Music Fest and CRAZE at Good Times Miami in Wynwood.
Kaytranada, who already seems to have a signature sound that defies any EDM genre, threw it down guiding the crowd from neo-soul to hip-hop, disco, and even throwing in some trap and deep house. With his Jean-Michel Basquiat t-shirt and the vibe of The Garrett, you couldn’t help but feel that WMC is going to be taking it to another level this year outside of the pool parties and big names at Ultra. His remixes of Disclosure and Janet Jackson have brought him to recent YouTube and SoundCloud recognition. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more him in our city in the near future.
And, of course, there’s this…
Sorry if i turned down the blunts last night. Couldn’t smoke in front of my auntie.

Downstairs, OWSLA’s Seven Lions, had a completely different sound going on for his World Aparts Tour. After adjusting for a second, I was reminded of the pure energy the Grand Central venue inspires. With his background in Metal and Trance, Seven Lions has found an innovative balance between creating an electro and dubstep feel.
That’s just the beginning for Grand Central during the WMC week. They will be hosting the WMC Launch Party with Flux Pavillion and Doctor P Tuesday, HARD events Wednesday and Thursday, their annual free Fool’s Gold event and finishing off the week with the Windish Agency Party on Saturday. Try to keep up!
