As DIY as gluing studs and Dead Kennedy patches on your denim jacket, cutting up Joy Division t-shirts or sporting peroxide-blonde Blondie hair comes The Garret’s new Thursday night party for Generation BLANK.
Degeneration is equal parts rock and roll, post-punk, and indie dance sprinkled with some of the classics that are sure to get you pogo-ing like the young, angsty teenager you used to be.
No bollocks, just dance!
Stephany Torres aka Baby Cobra of PopLife and Solange Sarria (DJ Blah Blah), gave us an exclusive look at a party dedicated to bringing raw, unforgiving energy to a generation of “in-betweens” or Generation Blank, a term inspired by Richard Hell and the Voidoids’ punk debut album. When asked what inspired the concept of the party, Steph boldly explained:
“We have the space. We have the friends and we know the music so let’s just do it!”
She further describes a void in the Miami social scene that leaves its party-goers “super sweaty, [with their] eyeliner dripping” promising to leave right after this song!
The Garret’s Degeneration party promises to deliver a no-bollocks, uninhibited wave of energy that will have you sweating more than a packed house at an all-ages, trap show downstairs in Grand Central. Sure, the kids are alright but this generation of professionals-by-day/socialites-by-night begs for a throw-back Thursday night that doesn’t include a hashtag–just good tunes.
