Have you met Weekend Atlas?
If you missed Weekend Atlas’ self-titled debut album back in January, you’ve got catching up to do! This summer, Jacksonville indie-folk rockers, Weekend Atlas are back with EP numero 2 titled Vacant, slated for release in August. First, they’re here to bring Tropicult’s readers (and listeners) an earful of delight with the exclusive first listen of “She’s on Fire” the first single off the upcoming EP.
The track was heavily influenced by bands in the vein of Noah and the Whale and The War On Drugs, shares the band.
“The first EP was released about a year and a half ago and was recorded with Carl Harper in Palm Coast. It wasn’t a huge release but we feel it helped legitimize us as a band.”
Lyrically, the song is reflective but there’s an energetic bouncy quality to the hook. This captivating melody brings the right amount of indie delightful to set off some summer vibes — open road, windows down, music up!
“Vacant explores the different ways to fill the voids in life. She’s on Fire is about a girl who is filling a void with partying and slowly becoming burnt out on it. “
Hey, I know that girl! If you’re from or have some time in Miami, chances are you know her too. Let’s skip the drama and dive into the delectable sound of piano and synths…
