Has Miami finally caught Moombahton mania? Spurred on by forward-thinking local DJs and producers like somejerk and NeverYawn, the Moombahton movement is gaining ground in the Magic City, and it’s right about to blow up.
To celebrate, we’ve got some goodies for you: our homeboy somejerk was kind enough to make us Tropimix, an exclusive Moombahton minimix just for Tropicult, and NeverYawn sent us a tantalizing preview of his upcoming Moombahepistemology EP. Whether you’re still skeptical or already a fan, do your ears a favor and cop Tropimix and Moombahepistemology after the break.
somejerk
Prolific DJ/producer and Miami Bass veteran somejerk was among the first local artists to embrace the Moombahton craze, a fact that no doubt helped him earn him the title of Miami New Times “Best New Electronica Artist″ back in 2010. He made us this exclusive Moombahton minimix, and you can download it for free right here:
Miami-based Moombahton producer NeverYawn has a new EP in the works. The Moombahepistemology EP, to be released on December 29th on NeverYawn’s own Bastard Brigade imprint, contains 4 brand new original tracks: Moombahepistemology, Peyote Eaters, Vice City, and one yet-to-be-named.
Listen to Moombahepistemology, which the artist calls “a pure OG Latin Moombahton track with our twist on it,” below:
I’ll be hitting up everybody that hits attending for the Moombah Over Miami event page on FB with a code to get the EP as a free download. Otherwise it’ll be for sale on our BandCamp page that day for $2.69 (neveryawn.bandcamp.com).
Moombahton Over Miami III
