Here Come The Mummies

Here Come The Mummies brought their death march and funkadelic sound through Fort Lauderdale once again on Friday night. The best way to describe HCTM is if George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Miles Davis, Branford Marsalis, Freddy Mercury & King Tut all had kids at the same time and formed a band. Legend has it that there are at least 4 Grammy awards between the group of musicians and countless other accolades. Obviously there is no way to verify the accuracy since their identities are always kept “under wraps” if you will.

The lighting was great, the stage presence was electric, and their sound was pretty damn amazing. They have a loyal, and I mean loyal fan base. One concertgoer happily bragged that this was his 45th HCTM show.

The drums and percussion were tight, the horns and brass were blazing and the level of comfort between the musicians and the sounds that soulfully blared through the speakers was something worth experiencing. This was my first Mummy show, and it will not be my last. If you are a fan of good music and you enjoy a show and the sound of talented musicians, then a HCTM show is something to catch at least once in your life. Go check out a HCTM show and let your Freak flag fly! A big applause goes out to SoFlo’s best band, Suenalo. Their brand of Afro-Latin funk was a great way to get the crowd worked up. If they are performing anywhere near you, please go check them out. Always support live music!
