Thursday, October 30 2014

7:00 PM-10:00 PM

Following the First World War, the horrors of combat and a fear of foreign enemies sank into the consciousness of soldiers and citizens throughout Europe. As a result, new genres of art, literature and film were born with themes that explored the darkness of humanity, and the instability of the shell-shocked mind. Frank Luca, Chief Librarian at the Wolfsonian, will briefly elucidate the connection between WWI and horror by introducing this double feature of the German Expressionist classics, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari andNosferatu.

Free with museum admission. Total running time of both films is 158 minutes.
