SUNFEST

Carrie Bradburn, Sunfest 2013When you think multi-day music festivals, and you live in South Florida, the first one that comes to mind should be Sunfest. Everyone is familiar with Coachella, Bonnaroo, New Orleans Jazz & Music Festival, SXSW, but Sunfest is one of the longest running music festivals in the country.

Besides the New Orleans Jazz & Music Festival, which is one of the oldest, founded in 1970, Sunfest is one that should be mentioned next and spoken of often. Founded in 1982 and boasting a dedicated group of festivalgoers, Sunfest, in my opinion is one of the premier festivals in the U.S. today.

I’ve attended many times, since my first one in the early 90’s. The lineups are top notch, this year you have the likes of (Lenny Kravitz, Hozier, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Pixies, 311, Paramore, SOJA, Somekindawonderful, The Hip Abduction, Stone Temple Pilots, Sammy Hagar, etc. etc.) The lineup is damn good this year.

SUNFEST1-250x250The festival runs from April 29th through May 3rd in Downtown West Palm Beach. The first 3 days, the gates open at 5pm, so missing work is not necessary.

Okay, maybe you leave a little early, but using up sick days is not required. Saturday and Sunday gates open at noon.

Parking is readily available, and the layout of the festival is very well planned.

Whether you come up from Miami, Fort Lauderdale or even from out of state, this is a must attend Festival at least once in your life.

Tickets are reasonable and still available for single day, or the entire 5 days.
