Pop-up series #4: Disposable Ethic

Pop-up series #4: Disposable Ethic is a series of photographs accompanied by a live performance by Christin Paige Minnotte.

On display from July 10th – July 24th, the series intends to illuminate the irony of industrial progress, specifically with respect to plastics in the ocean – the idea that the very triumph of mankind, the ability to transcend natural limits and improve upon nature, could seal it’s doom.

The performance piece was performed in the ocean off the shores of Cuba as part of the Havana Biennial on May 22nd, 2015.

The artist will be re-creating the performance at &gallery in a specially fabricated tank made of plexiglass, filled with water, a struggling human and much plastic.

We hope you can join us for the opening of this show on July 10th from 7-10 pm. The performance will be held at 9pm.

An art-talk will occur on Thursday July 16th at 7pm, to be moderated by &gallery director Annie Berkowitz.
