Poetry in the Park

Saturday, April 5 2014

5:00 PM-10:00 PM

Have you ever been to one of the free movie screenings on the side of the New World Symphony building?

Former U.S. Poets Laureate Robert Hass and 2011 National Book Award-winner Nikky Finney read as part of the first-ever Poetry Wallcast in Soundscape Park.

Bring a blanket and watch two of the most celebrated poets in the world read their work on a 7,000 sq foot outdoor projection screen in full, high-definition surround sound.

The event is free and space in the park is “first-come, first-serve.”

Come early to hear free music by New World Symphony Fellows in the park beginning at 5 p.m. There will also be live poetry performances, food, games, and a book exchange from Bookleggers Mobile Library. The reading will start promptly at 8 p.m.

After the reading, the poets will meet with the audience and sign books, courtesy of Books & Books Independent Bookstore, and we will give away the official 2014 O, Miami Tote Bag.

This event is rain or shine. In the case of rain, we will invite the audience indoors.
