Ignacio Berroa- South Beach Jazz Festival

Saturday, January 6 2018

7:00 PM-9:30 PM

The South Beach Jazz Festival returns Jan. 5 – 7, 2018 for a weekend of classic, Latin, and New Orleans-style acts. Over that weekend, open-air performances by local ensembles will draw Lincoln Road promenaders to linger, listen and groove. And even more significantly, the festival musicians will raise public awareness of persons who have disabilities.

Ignacio Berroa has been recognized as one of the greatest drummers of our times. He was honored by inclusion in the 2011 Mp3 compilation entitled “Jazz Drumming Legends” which features some of the most renowned drummers in Jazz history.

Ignacio Berroa was born in Havana Cuba on July 8 1953. He left his country in 1980 during the Mariel boatlift, moved to New York and joined Dizzy Gillespie’s quartet in 1981 becoming the drummer of all the important bands Gillespie formed until his death in 1993.
