Curtain Call Playhouse Presents Last of the Red Hot Lovers

Curtain Call Playhouse is proud to present Neil Simon’s Last of the Red Hot Lovers at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The comedy opened on Broadway in 1969 and has become a hysterical look back at the sexual revolution in New York City. The show runs Saturday, April 13 at 8 pm and Sunday, April 14 at 2pm. Tickets are $26 at www.ccpompano.org

“We are so excited to bring back Last of The Red Hot Lovers,” said Kris Coffelt, Founder and Artistic Director. “This play encompasses the witty repartee, funny jokes and unflinching look at our culture that we all love about a Neil Simon play. With his death last year, we look at this performance as a tribute to his brilliance and the inspiration he gave to all of us in the theater community.”

The play focuses on Barney Cashman, a middle-aged, married, overworked man who wants to join the sexual revolution before it’s too late. He arranges three seductions: the first, Elaine Navazio proves to be a foul-mouthed bundle of neuroses; Bobbi Michele is next, a 30-ish actress who’s too kooky by half; finally comes Jeanette Fisher, a gloomy, depressed housewife who happens to be married to Barney’s best friend. A cascading series of comic errors follows!

“Mr. Simon has created a great character here…it is extraordinarily funny and yet also charming…as witty as ever, perhaps wittier.” – The New York Times.
