Courageous Creatives, a group of 24 socially-minded young artists curated by Culture Shock Miami and led by Miami-based creative and educator, Miriam L. King, have come together in an effort to raise awareness and seek positive and effective ways to reimagine a path for a post-racial society. Over the course of 5 weeks, the cohort of artists and future leaders collaborated to create a film titled Take Back Time, charting a path of 526 ways to move towards an equitable and just society. The 526 represents the final seconds of George Floyd’s life. The premiere of the film will be followed by a moderator-led panel discussion with members of the community and current leaders from Miami-Dade’s civic and cultural organizations.

Courageous Creatives encouraged young adults to navigate new ways to build trust, develop a sense of community, and engage in conversations typically left to politicians and seasoned leaders. With each session, the cohort found new opportunities for healthy discussions, personal growth, and the power of activism through the arts.
