Miami Beach: Evolution of a City

Thursday, March 19 2015

6:00 PM-8:30 PM

What man makes, makes a “man” is an overriding theme of The Wolfsonian’s collection.

In this illustrated lecture, local historian Carolyn Klepser looks at early Miami Beach as a product of its place and time.

Evolving from its agricultural origins, this largely man-made city embodied new technologies in transportation, communication, and architecture and both followed and created changing social trends.

Ms. Klepser will be available to sign copies of her new book, Lost Miami Beach, following the talk.

Come early to see a special selection of early Miami Beach memorabilia, including photo albums of Carl Fisher’s hotels in The Wolfsonian Library, on view from 6 to 7pm.

Free with museum admission.
