“A circle in a square: Muhammed Ali’s movement is mesmerizing, beautiful…the way he danced around opponents, the rhythms and sounds of the streets of Miami, the music; the sounds of the boxing, the training, his poetry; the fact that he saw himself as a poet and an artist. He was a man I had not considered in that way before.”
This installment of WEIRD MIAMI bus tours is led by Miami-born choreographer, Shaneeka Harrell and follows the route of Cassius Clay’s daily training runs from Overtown to the iconic 5th Street Gym on Miami Beach. The tour, inspired by Clay’s transformation to Muhammad Ali, will feature dance, film, poetry and an interactive musical experience including live mixes by DJ Le Spam
This tour is in collaboration with Thought Loom, a company dedicated to giving traction to dance ideas and with Miami Book Fair International’s screening of Muhammad Ali Made In Miami at the Knight Arts Challenge funded Swamp on November 21st.
