Asser Saint-Val presents an ongoing site specific interactive public art installation titled “The Philosopher’s Stone,” recreating a three dimensional version of the artist’s paintings which will be on view in the Museum.
Born in Haiti and a resident of Miami, Asser Saint-Val received his BFA in Painting and Graphic Design from NWSA in 2004. His work was selected as the signature piece for the Miami International Film Festival in 2004, is a two-time recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship Award for Visual and Media artists, and has exhibited in South Florida, New York, and the Caribbean. His pieces are part of renowned collections including the Rubell Family, Mosquera, and Francie Bishop Good, among others.
swing/SPACE/miami is MDC Museum of Art + Design’s focused exhibition series featuring the work of distinguished MDC and New World School of the Arts alumni. The ongoing exhibition presents five solo or group exhibitions per year, providing a platform to re-engage former alumni and foster opportunities with the community of young and emerging artists throughout South Florida.
