SOFTER will have a film festival debut screening as part of the Men’s Shorts category at OUTshine Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Directed by Lovell Holder, the film starring Rick Cosnett (The Flash, Quanitco) and Terrell Carter (Empire) explores the problematic, unspoken sexual relationship between a male slave and his white master.

Adapted by queer black-Filipino playwright Roger Q. Mason from his original stage play, SOFTER uses a historical lens to explore contemporary issues of consent and race within the LGBT community.

SOFTER is set in the final days of the American Civil War as Ishmael (Terrell Carter) prepares to leave his life as a slave for freedom. However, before he departs, should he end the
relationship with his master, Mr. Charlie (Rick Cosnett)?
