2night we’re encouraging artists to perform pieces based on current events, politics, & injustices. Share your views on the world today 2night is The Imperial Social Justice. Topics are the Presidential election, Panana Papers, & Vices.
The Imperial is a performance driven open mic night for Miami’s artists. Musicians, Poets, & artists of all kinds are welcome & encouraged to perform. Bring as many or as little instruments as you wish. Come 100% as you are and be comfortable in your talents.
Hosted by Rod Deal & Marcus Blake The Imperial is located at Made at the Citadel . A night for tastemakers & artists perfecting their craft only the most Incredible artists perform courtesy of the Miami tropics. Marcus Blake is backed by a 3 piece band known as the immortal 3rd party. They specialize in blues, jazz, funk, & soul music. All artists are encouraged to rock with the band & enjoy the vibe that can only be created with each other. 2nights sounds will be the kid known all over Wynwood as Don Red Fox

About our feature:
The youngest individual to win the legendary Nuyorican Poet’s Café Grand Slam title–Aja Monet is an Afro-Cuban-Jamaican poet, educator, and activist from East NY, Brooklyn. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, she received her BA in Liberal Arts and was awarded the The Andrea Klein Willison Prize for Poetry which was established to recognize work in poetry that “effectively examines relationships among women, especially in the context of justice for everyone.” She received an MFA in Creative Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Aja Monet independently published her first book of poetry, The Black Unicorn Sings (2010). In 2012, she collaborated with poet/musician Saul Williams on a book entitled, Chorus: A Literary Mixtape (MTV Books/Simon & Schuster). In 2014, Aja Monet was awarded the YWCA of the City of New York’s “One to Watch Award”–an award established in honor of Monet’s work to honor women under the age of 30 who exemplify the mission: to empower women and eliminate racism. An internationally established poet, in 2015, she traveled to Palestine on a solidarity trip with the Dream Defenders. Co-founder of Smoke Signals Studio, Aja Monet currently lives in Little Haiti, Miami envisioning space for creatives to transform communities through intentional art making.
