SMDCAC Presents: Martha Redbone’s Bone Hill – The Concert

Americana singer-songwriter Martha Redbone drew on the story of her own Kentucky family for this theatrical song cycle exploring the fraught, hidden history of African-Americans and Native Americans in Appalachia. Created with partner Aaron Whitby for New York’s renowned Joe’s Pub and the Public Theater, Bone Hill – The Concert ranges from Cherokee chants to bluegrass, gospel to rhythm and blues, to tell a powerful tale of race, heritage, and what it means to be American.
