Platform Symposium / Littlest Sister
December 4 - December 4 2015
12:00 PM-1:30 PM
Platform, A Symposium Featuring Miami’s Most Influential Women in the Arts
Spinello Projects / Nov 30 – Dec 6
Littlest sister, a “faux” invitational art fair, comments on the art fair as an entity that activated Miami’s contemporary arts scene. Littlest sister will take form in a conventional art gallery featuring an emerging Miami based curator, Sofia Bastidas (littlest sister director) and ten unrepresented women-identified Miami based artists who work in painting, sculpture, design, installation, and new media. Three sectors will encompass the fair: 10 solo booths, special projects, and the Platform symposium.
Littlest Sister’s Platform, a symposium bringing together Miami’s most influential women in the arts, will invite panelists to engage in conversations and debate regarding current macro and local issues, from challenges in the field, the future of art fairs, real estate development and the arts, to gender and race inequality in the market. Prominent outside voices have been invited to spark dialogue with local practitioners and influencers.
Programmed throughout Miami Art Week, Platform will create informal opportunities of exchange for real critical discourse. Participating artists include Cara Despain, Adriennerose Gionta, Jessie Laino, Tara Long, Ana Mendez, Nun (Jessica Martin And Deon Rubi), Jamilah Sabur, Reed Van Brunschot, Juana Valdes, and Clara Varas. Exhibition runs through December 6, 2015.
If you can only make it to one panel discussion, I reccommend:
