Opening: Luis Lazo, Distant Fields
Saturday, April 9 2016
12:00 PM-7:00 PM
&gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by photographic artist, Luis Lazo from April 9th – May 14th with an opening reception on Saturday, April 9th from 4-7pm. The show, Distant Fields is Lazo’s first solo exhibition at &gallery.
The artist and gallery have carefully curated pieces that explore unconventional pairings of imagery and visual aesthetic. Shape and light are driving forces with deep compliments to shadow. Lazo and &gallery bring to the foreground visually contrasting moments captured and then interpreted, allowing the viewer both an objective and subjective filter into viewing the of Lazo’s captured instances in time.
Lazo will be showcasing his series, “I Want to Be in the Light,” where the artist has bridged a connection between the physical and ephemeral, through the use of neon light, depth of field, and invoking backdrops. He will also be exposing a series of diptychs where a new relationship is created by coupling two unique and complementing moments together offering a passage to engagement and interpretation.
According to the artist, “this current work reflects on the personal and the existential as filtered through photography.” He continues, “I attempt to understand and come to terms with the passing of time.”
