Nu Deco Ensemble closes out Season One at The Light Box

After a much-anticipated and successful inaugural season, Nu Deco Ensemble will conclude Season One with back-to-back concerts Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30, at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse. Both performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. and will feature collaborations with Raquel Sofia and Andy Akiho. General admission tickets are $30 and available through http://www.nu-deco.org/seasonone/. Saturday’s concert will offer a $75 VIP ticket option.
The pair of concerts will include an arrangement of Paul Dooley’s “Velocity Festivals.” Music performed with Akiho includes “To Walk in Run in West Harlem,” “ The Ray’s End,” “Hanba Iro (Beige),” and his debut composition “No One to Know One.”
Akiho is an award-winning composer and steel drum artist based out of New York City. He has been commissioned by the New York Philharmonic National Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble ACJW. Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Raquel Sofia, a 2015 Latin Grammy Awards Best New Artist nominee, will join Nu Deco Ensemble on stage. The Sony Music Latin recording artist has performed backup vocals for Latin artists such as Shakira and Juanes.
