NADA

Each December in Miami, NADA runs a renowned art fair to vigorously pursue our goals of exploring new or underexposed art that is not typical of the “art establishment.” NADA’s fair is held in parallel with Art Basel Miami Beach and is recognized as a much needed alternative assembly of the world’s youngest and strongest art galleries dealing with emerging Contemporary Art. It is the only major American art fair to be run by a non-profit organization. The fair is open for both members and non-members of NADA to apply.

NADA first launched the art fair in Miami in 2003, with 35 exhibitors in a vacant space located off of Lincoln Road near the Convention Center. In 2003, many [NADA] dealers sold out their booths within hours.  Understanding the hunger for emerging work and the contemporary market, NADA hired a new director, Heather Hubbs to execute the next editions of the fair.  For the next five years NADA Art Fair was held at the Ice Palace in Miami, where the roots of the fair began to expand. In 2005, NADA fielded about 415 applications for 80 slots.

In 2009, NADA moved the fair to the stately ballrooms and beachside environs of the historic Deauville Beach Resort located on Collins Ave. and 67th St. in North Miami Beach. In efforts to respond to economic downturn, NADA looked for new ways to lower costs for younger galleries.  Moving to North Beach allowed NADA to lower overall booth costs and discount prices on hotel rooms.
