As part of the kick-off of DWNTWN ART DAYS weekend, ACTIVATE: MDCulture is a one night event held at the College’s historic Freedom Tower and begins with a toast to the College’s new cultural campaign.

The evening continues with the unveiling of the official 2013 Miami Book Fair International posters by Spanish artist Francisco Capdevila, better known as “Max;” and American comics artist, Paul Pope; the inauguration of MDC MOAD’s new exhibition series swing/SPACE/miami featuring Leandro Vazquez; anda special screening of award-winning shorts by Juan Carlos Zaldivar, Anja Marias, and Cédric Prévost presented by MIFF.

ACTIVATE: MDCulture concludes with an intimate performance by renowned Brazilian jazz pianist, André Mehmari, presented by MDC Live Arts.

The evening includes an OPEN HOUSE of Miami International Film Festival’s new offices on the 4th floor from 5:30pm – 6:30pm, and again from 7:30pm – 8:30pm. There will be 2 screenings of our 23-minute shorts program – 6pm and 8pm.
