Miami Book Fair Online
Streaming Starts November 15 | FREE!
Made In Miami. Streaming Worldwide.
Miami Book Fair, the much-anticipated annual literary celebration that brings authors and moderators, readings, panel discussions, and innovative children’s and youth programming to hundreds of thousands of South Florida fairgoers every November, will be a completely virtual experience this year. Streaming starts November 15, free and on-demand, on a new website created just for the Fair. More than 300 acclaimed authors will take part in Miami Book Fair Online (MBFO), with a robust slate of writers across cultures and countries presenting works in fiction, politics, history, memoir, comics, poetry, and other genres – in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, as in years past.
Signature programs, such as IberoAmerican Authors and ReadCaribbean will return, and Children’s Alley, dedicated to providing fun learning activities for kids and youth, will also have a digital home. The “Evening With…” series will be back too, reimagined for the virtual world but still pairing high-profile authors with outstanding moderators for one-on-one conversations that provoke, delight, and intrigue. This year’s lineup includes authors Walter Mosely, Louise Erdrich, P.J. O’Rourke, Terry McMillan, Kevin Kwan, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, and celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, among others. Emmy-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien, Pulitzer Prize-winner Leonard Pitts Jr., and New York Times book review editor Pamela Paul are just a few of the literary world luminaries who will be leading the dialogues.
Local Flavor
Homegrown writers, poets, artists, and musicians that now call Florida home are slated to appear, including Dave Barry, Lauren Groff, Rick Kilby, Yanela G. McLeod, and Kent Russell, and many Florida-based independent and small-book presses will also be on hand. They can be found in Book Fair Marketplace, the virtual bazaar that’s standing in for the event’s popular Street Fair. A new multimedia project, Here in Florida, will allow fairgoers to explore the Sunshine State through a literary map while showcasing more than 40 local authors and artists, including writers Kyandreia Jones, Richard Blanco, and Chantel Acevedo, visual artists Gustavo Oviedo and Christina Patterson, musical artist Richie Hell, and “Made in Miami” playlists.
Book Fair Marketplace
Featuring booksellers, publishers, and other book-, reading-, and education-related vendors, Book Fair Marketplace is where fairgoers go to browse the latest in books, ’zines, and comics and graphic novels for readers of all ages. Official Miami Book Fair merch and a copy of the fair’s 2020 commemorative poster – created by Dan Santat, award-winning children’s book author, illustrator, and creator of the Disney animated series The Replacements – can also be purchased there.
