His selection of artist for Art Basel 2017 are innovators of our current time who will perform live during a evening of music, taste and art.
Philippe H. Guggenheim mission is to awaken the art collector in all of us and to make collecting more open, modern, digital and a never-ending journey. He has the vison to open a pop up show during Basel in the heart of “Lemon City” A new cultural area of Miami, during Art Basel 2017.
His vision is to unearth curiosity, wonder and joy from being exposed to art that is new and different, even if the experience is unsettling or foreign. We are informed by our appreciation and understanding of disruption, innovation, new concepts and ideas. “We want to bring this to established and new collectors we have the privilege of meeting.”
ARTISTS:
Tim Bengel “A social media phenomenon” Sand artist unveils his latest works. He developed his method of using sand, gold and glue between 2014 and 2015 before becoming a YouTube sensation by sharing videos of his process leading up to dramatic conclusions where he would reveal his intricate images by letting the un-glued sand and gold fall from canvases when turned vertical.
Multimedia artist Laura Kimpton. “If WORDS could SPEAK,” the title of the exhibition, considers the multivalent interpretations of words in text, speech, and sculpture, as they gain increasing importance through technology. The exhibition will include Kimpton’s Monumental Words sculptures, a bedroom installation and performance, an installation of monkey busts wearing the artist’s jewelry, and mixed media two-dimensional works. Kimpton will activate the exhibition with performances.
Canvases and abstract works of Franz Klainsek, a self taught American artist of Cuban / Austrian descent. Leaning on his roots for the core of each production, the work is physical and emotional — it resides in the space between body and mind, feeling and thought. The creation process; an extension of his human form, lost in time where movement becomes weightless and the pieces dictate their own journey.
