Join the FIU School of Music for an intimate look at Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique with world-renowned musicologist Frank Cooper and FIU Artist-in-Residence and preeminent pianist Kemal Gekic. The Symphonic fantastique is a self-portrait of its composer, Hector Berlioz, and has become one of the most performed orchestral works since its premiere in Paris in 1830. The symphony describes his obsession and dreams, tantrums and moments of tenderness, and visions of suicide and murder, ecstasy, and despair.
