Everything But Water and 1 Hotel South Beach will host a two-day event in Miami on April 4 and 5 to introduce Water is Everything, our commitment to fighting the crises facing our seas. Activities include a beach clean-up, dune restoration and trawling expedition and will support The 5 Gyres Institute’s mission to end plastic pollution in the ocean. A selection of special pieces available to purchase will also benefit 5 Gyres.

The event will also mark the opening of a permanent Everything But Water store at the hotel.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

WEDNESDAY – APRIL 4

10:00 am – 12:00 pm: beach clean-up and dune restoration with The 5 Gyres Institute, volunteercleanup.org and Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter / enter the beach via the 24th Street entrance, RSVP: www.volunteercleanup.org/wateriseverything
4:30 pm – 5:30 pm: screening of The 5 Gyres Institute’s “Junk Raft” documentary followed by a Q&A and book signing with Dr. Marcus Eriksen, 5 Gyres co-founder / mezzanine level of Habitat, RSVP: [email protected]. Lite bites provided by Habitat.
THURSDAY – APRIL 5

10:00 am – 12:30 pm: ocean trawling expedition to study the effects of plastic pollution aboard The Impossible Dream (http://impossibledream.us), a catamaran, $100 per person, donated to The 5 Gyres Institute, RSVP: [email protected] (Boat is docked approximately 23 minutes away from the hotel)
4:00 pm – 4:30 pm: cocktails and remarks on plastic pollution with The 5 Gyres Institute and Surfrider Foundation Miami Chapter / Cabana Pool
