Locust Projects is pleased to present Emergía Miami, the ongoing project by Mexico City-based artist Miguel Rodríguez Sepúlveda. The project, which has been presented in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Caracas and Sao Paolo, sees Sepúlveda searching for clues to a shared cultural experience in each city. After conducting field research to identify symbols that hold a particular potency to residents of an area, the symbols are painted on participant’s backs with watercolor paste, and washed away by the sweat of the wearer after continuous physical activity. After being rendered liquid, the images are transferred as a monoprint onto cotton paper. The exhibition will include these prints, along with photographs and videos from previous iterations, and will include Sepúlveda as the sole performer in the project for the first time.
