The Actors’ Playhouse Musical Miracles invite you into the secret world of our fabulous felines as they gather for the annual Jellicle Ball to bestow the honor that only one cat will receive – to be reborn into a new Jellicle life. Watch our feline friends as they strut their stuff trying to be the one who is chosen.
Based on T.S. Eliot’s “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats,” CATS, Jr. is set at the annual reunion of the Jellicle cats at the Jellicle Ball. The eldest of this special breed, Old Deuteronomy, seeks to select which of the many cats in the neighborhood will be reborn to begin another life. Potential candidates named Jennyanydots, Rum Tum Tugger, and Bustopher Jones plead their case. Ultimately, it is Grizabella’s plea for a new life that wins the old cat over. Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, CATS, Jr. features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless melodies, including “Jellicle Ball”, “Rum Tum Tugger”, and the hit song “Memory.”
The Actors’ Playhouse Musical Miracles is a youth repertory company under the direction of Theatre for Young Audiences Director Earl Maulding.
