Carlota Pradera Presents “Bare Bones” at MTC

“Bare Bones” by Miami-based choreographer/dancer Carlota Pradera is an experimental dance performance that employs movement and a visual installation to analyze power dynamics among individuals and cultures. The work questions divisive lines of man-made borders that alienate families, lovers, friends, and political enemies. It examines the distance invading our cultures and social behaviors, creating a world in which touch is becoming an endangered sense and fear is becoming the predominant vehicle for communication. “Bare Bones” is a metaphoric labyrinth where the essence of movement reveals how humans are being reduced to moving machines covered with flesh.

Carlota Pradera’s creative collaborators include special guest artist Lazaro Godoy — a YoungArts Alumnus (First Prize in Choreography, 1996), Artistic Director Juan Carlos Zaldivar — the award-winning Cuban filmmaker and video artist, and Lighting Designer Alexey Taran. The performance features original live music by Sound Artists/Composers Juraj Kojs and Rainer Davies.
Experience “Bare Bones” on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM from June 13-28, 2014.

The SandBox Series is presented with support from the Knight Foundation.
