Caribbean Crossroads Symposium: Transnational Histories
Friday, April 25 2014
1:30 PM-8:30 PM
Transnational Histories consists of four panels that correspond to the central themes of the exhibition: Fluid Motions, Counterpoints, Shades of History, and Kingdoms of this World. These panels bring together exceptional scholars, curators, and artists, who respond to diverse geographical, chronological, and cultural contexts of the Caribbean.
Each panel will pair a scholar or curator with an artist. Each of the participants will present an individual paper or talk on the given topic and then have a moderated conversation with one another. The symposium will begin with a Thursday evening reception to celebrate the exhibition, “Caribbean: Crossroads of the World,” during which the public will see the first act of a two part performance by artist Akuzuru. The second act will take place during the symposium on Friday.
