Mark Joseph Oliver will discuss the trajectory of his work which is largely inspired by memory and natural phenomena and examines the relationships of man and land through the exploration of extreme weather, suburbia, and environment. He earned his BFA from the University of South Florida as well as his MFA in Sculpture at the Maryland Institute College of Art and currently works at Environ Studios in Tampa, Florida fabricating projects for private clients and artists in addition to exhibiting his own work nationwide. This lecture is FREE and open to the public.
Mark Joseph Oliver will also host a FREE, hands-on workshop the following day (Friday, April 3rd) at 11am in the Broward College North Campus Ceramics Studio, bldg. 50 room 125. Participants will learn more about Oliver’s sculptural techniques and “How to Build a Tornado Machine”, based on one of the artist’s interactive works.
