AIA Miami’s Women in Architecture Tribute to Florence Knoll

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Women in Architecture Committee of the AIA Miami invites you to join in the honoring of the life and legacy of the great Florence Knoll Bassett, a world-renowned architect, interior designer, furniture designer, pioneer and entrepreneur. Best known for becoming the leading innovator of modern interiors and furnishings in the 1950’s and 1960’s, Knoll Bassett created the planning principles and modern esthetics of corporate office interiors still relevant today.
Elina Cardet, Interior Design Director at Perkins+Will Miami and Co-Chair of the Women in Architecture Committee for the Miami Chapter of the AIA, spearheaded the organization of the event, along with Chair of the Women in Architecture Committee Lourdes Solera, FAIA, MC Harry & Associates and Co-Chair Vanessa Smith Torres, AIA, VIA Design Studio. The panel will consist of writer and editor, Beth Dunlop, Knoll Studio’s Jim Lutz, and Editor in Chief of Contact Magazine, Paul Makovsky. The discussion will center on how Knoll’s transformative work revolutionized the world of design and the workplace environment, while sharing their own personal stories of this visionary legend.
The event takes place at the Knoll Showroom on Wednesday March 20th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Tickets for AIA members are $15; Associate AIA are $10; IIDA members are $15; non-members are $20; Students are free.
