ABOUT AHOL SNIFFS GLUE: FULL-TIME
The exhibit portrays his vision of life, labor and unrequited love on the mean streets of the Magic City. The works exhibited mark a notable leap forward in the evolution of the artist.
The soaring walls of the city that provide him freedom of expression have become starkly contrasted by the walls of the office cubicle where he toils daily and that oppress his vision.
The results of this tense balancing act reflects on his work which remains labor intensive and obsessive in nature, but has opened unpredictable approaches and previously untapped possibilities of a deeper personal and visceral nature.
Ahol’s complex paintings allude to the disparities of achieving the American Dream for the average citizen grinding daily to avoid foreclosure or eviction.
In some of these unexpected pieces the iconic image of his ever-watchful, yet rest-deprived eyes, linger in a murky limbo of uncertainty, as a powerful symbol of Ahol’s tenacious presence upon the rugged streets that spawned him.
ABOUT MERCENARY SQUARE
