The first concert of the fall 2013 will feature the cellist Jason Calloway in a program of works that explore cello’s relationships, both literal and figurative, with the human voice. In works by Artur Avanesov, Luciano Berio, Anne Hege, Adriana Holszky, Fabien Lévy, and Peter Sculthorpe, the cello evokes the bel canto singing tradition, spoken word, and the requiem mass while also being partnered by the player’s own singing, whistling, and more.
