The Miami Design District celebrates the season finale of the Site-Specific Performances Series with A World of Rhythm, an evening curated by The Rhythm Foundation.
WHAT: The Miami Design District presents A World of Rhythm, an evening curated by The Rhythm Foundation and led by Afrobeta’s Cuci Amador to celebrate the season finale of the Site-Specific Performance Series. The night will feature a variety of musical performances which connect to the strong cultural influences of South Florida.
WHERE: The evening will begin in the Palm Court on the 3rd level of the Event Space. It will continue through the space to the 2nd level mezzanine and end in the plaza.

ABOUT:
AROZE TWOUBADOU – Big Night in Little Haiti
Aroze Twoubadou was formed when singer and guitarist Jean Levelt, a young member of esteemed Haitian konpa group Bel Jazz joined a group of friends to play Haitian folk music – in a fresh way. In creole, arose means “to water” and Aroze waters the hearts of their fans with a warming style of music, a mixture of ceremonial traditions, folk, and konpa. Twobadou, Haitian folk music, is the source material for much of Haiti’s contemporary popular music. Aroze Twoubadou will be featured at Big Night in Little Haiti later this fall.
BATUKE SAMBA – Hollywood ArtsPark Experience
Batuke Samba is a Brazilian group that mixes rhythms from Afro-samba and Brazilian big band with classic 70s funk. The goal of Batuke is “brazilianize” American sounds, and “Americanize” Brazilian sounds in a perfectly balanced fusion. The group will be part of the Rhythm Foundation’s Hollywood ArtsPark Experience series this summer, appearing August 1st at the Bahia edition. Ceremonial traditions, folk, and konpa. Twobadou, Haitian folk music, is the source material for much of Haiti’s contemporary popular music. Aroze Twoubadou will be featured at Big Night in Little Haiti later this fall.
CONJUNTO IMPACTO – Dance Band Night
Conjunto Impacto was formed in 1975 in Miami,Florida, playing Cuban Salsa in the traditional “Orquesta” formation. Two of their most popular recordings are “Los Limones” and “Que Bueno esta este Pais”. The 15-member big band will headline the Rhythm Foundation’s new monthly series, Dance Band Night, June 11 at the North Beach Bandshell in Miami Beach.
THE RHYTHM FOUNDATION
The Rhythm Foundation, a Miami-based non-profit cultural organization, is a leading presenter of world music in Florida. It was founded in 1988 with the goal of increasing international awareness through live music. The Rhythm Foundation has presented more than 500 concerts, events and festivals by established and innovative artists from around the world. Special focus is given to those cultures connecting to South Florida audiences – music from Brazil, Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe. CUCI AMADOR, AFROBETA
Cuci Amador is a fiery sprite of a woman known around Miami for making a party. She is the female counterpart of Miami’s favorite band, Afrobeta. Cuci is proud to be considered an ambassador of all things Miami. Known for her street and on-stage style, she is a press darling in Miami and abroad. Afrobeta has toured internationally and performed at the best fests in the world: Glastonbury, Space Ibiza, Burning Man, Camp Bisco and the Ultra Music festivals in Brazil, Korea and Miami. She has been featured in fashion press such as Nylon, Huffington Post, Spin, Babes at the Museum, Ocean Drive Magazine, Flavorpill, Societé Perrier and Wasabi Fashion Kult to name a few. She is really excited to be a part of the Rhythm Foundation community.
