Arthur Baker’s influence in the music industry is unarguable. Arthur Baker’s contributions and productions will remain relevant throughout the history of music. Innovation is unstoppable and so is the kick behind Planet Rock!
Arthur Baker is in town for Miami Music Madness (as we like to call it) and we were beyond stocked when he agreed to talk to us and tell us a bit more about what he has in the works.
Don’t know about ya’ll, but we’ve been wearing our dancing shoes since Ultra kicked-off the Winter Music Madness (or Miami Music Week, whatever you wanna call it) last Friday. You may be tired but hey, you only live once and isn’t that why they made Redbull (and drugs)?
Although you may have seen some of the Fixed dance commanders throughout the week, Sweat Records and The Vagabond are bringing them together under one roof for the fifth annual Fixed music showcase this Friday, March 22.
Fixed V will be featuring Tensnake (live), Flight Facilities, Bicep, Maxxi Soundsystem and more and best yet, we’ve got a pair of tickets for you to try and score…
Ordinary Boys are keeping the legend of The Smith’s and Morrissey a-live in our town. I met A.J. Navarrete aka AJ Rebel, the lead singer of the ensemble, at the now trending Gramps in Wynwood.
We talked about everything from the legend of The Smiths, Morrissey, the history, conception and future of Ordinary Boys to tribute bands, nostalgia, and vegetarianism.
The newest phenomenon in film is transmedia or interactive film. According to Jose Jacho, founder and creative producer at Indie Film Club Miami, transmedia includes using various forms of media by different artists to complete a story.
For instance, you can watch a movie and then download an app or video on your phone later to see the end of the story. The idea is to get everyone involved. Someone can write a poem about the movie and post it on a blog or write a song or make a painting.
Jose, along with Diliana Alexander, the executive director of FilmGate, brought this new form of storytelling to the southeastern seas. Here’s a look at what you may have missed…
As I warmly recall the wild summer nights that I first hit the scene, when Jennys Was A Friend of Mine and together we discovered on the dance floor the kind of magic that took us to Such Great Heights and back again; I realize that no matter what the current trend is, Miami needs an indie dance party!
The District may not be around anymore but luckily The Vagabond has “reloaded” their weekly Friday party with an arsenal of indie dance magic; guaranteed to bring back that Electric Feel and give the Young FolkWhat You Want and the rest of us what we need – indie rock, dirty disco, house, and electro beats!
Now that we’ve caught our breath, we put together a Miami Art Week 2012 Retrospective - a series of photos and galleries that capture some of our favorite events and artworks.
This collection of photographs only captures a small fragment of what went down in Miami the first week of December. But hey, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here’s a short story…enjoy!
