Surely by now you are all familiar with the photography and artwork of our dear friend and contributor, Rod Deal. A couple of weeks back we told you about the For Artist / By Artist, an event series that goes down Sundays at Haven Lounge in Miami Beach.
On Sunday, February 19th For Artist / By Artist showcased the latest photo series by Rod Deal, The Natural – A Digital Photographic Series.
“I shot ‘The Natural’ so people of colour can be proud to wear African hairstyles and have not be ashamed of the choice to represent their culture.”
The Natural Hair Series is a photo essay on natural african inspired hairstyles and the lifestyles that come with representing an african heritage. Each subject wrote in their own words why they chose this hairstyle an how it affected their life. Deal shot The Natural series on Fuji 3000-b peel apart film.
