Are you a performance artist, poet, singer, or musician? Know any? Stone Groove is calling out for a new breed of homegrown talent to step-up to the square and bring it!
For over three years Stone Groove has supplied the live music scene with a home for artistic expression inviting local artists to The Vagabond every Tuesday for the open-mic showcase.
Backed by a loyal group of talented performers, host Marcus Blake and coproducer Rod Deal (both artist and contributors to the avant-garde identity of the Downtown Miami art scene) have established Stone Groove as one of Miami’s strongest music networking scenes.
They have placed a Call To Artist in search for some fresh blood to join Stone Groove, certain that there is plenty more ripe local talent lurking the city and determined to find it. And like I said, they have the hook-up…
Stone Groove encourages performers to keep polishing the stone, perfecting their art form. Committed artist that consistently take the mic are chosen to be showcased as special features for an evening, acknowledging their efforts with chance to shine.

Homegrown provides featured artist with the opportunity to perform for an international audience of producers, label executives, musicians, and visitors that make their way through sunny South Florida during these exceedingly popular winter festivities showing the world that in addition to warm weather — Miami’s got talent!
Once again, on March 20th, Homegrown will set-off Winter Music Conference at The Vagabond with a series of garden performances at the second annual DEF MIX WMC Kick-Off Party. Artist are chosen by Marcus Blake and Rod Deal based on overall performance quality and consistency exhibited throughout the year at Stone Groove. (And yes, that does mean that if you attend Stone Groove frequently, get on the mic, and give your best, YOU too could have a chance to feature at the next Homegrown!)
A Birthday Tribute To Nina Simone
This upcoming week Stone Groove is paying homage to the High Priestess of Soul– jazz singer, pianist, and songwriter, Nina Simone. On stage, Simone moved from gospel to blues, jazz, and folk, to numbers with classical styling, and incorporated monologues and dialogues with the audience into the program, and often used silence as a musical element.
Stone Groove invites you to celebrate the life of Nina Simone by showcasing your own original work or with a tribute to her works.
The 3rd Party band provide live musical instrumentation. DJs Wasabi and C-Stone set the soundscape between sets.
